We’re always looking for actors who fit the descriptions of the characters in our books, because one of the ways that we get in touch with our characters is to pick actors that we feel represent their general look.
THE EXTRA presented a problem, because Gabby Mays isn’t your typical celebrity body type, and we wanted to find someone who was beautiful (as Gabby is) but also not a size two (which she is definitely not.)
We landed on Kelly Clarkson, who is gorgeous as they come without conforming to the typical Hollywood body type. It’s okay if you picture Gabby differently, but Kelly inspired us to think of her as both gorgeous and plus-sized (or at least not Hollywood skinny.)
For Will, we picked the lesser-known actor Orlando Seale, for his copious curls and his gorgeous stare.
